The Wetland Comeback

Description

Europe’s peatlands are disappearing, releasing stored carbon and posing an increased risk to the climate and biodiversity. In the face of increasingly frequent and intense droughts and floods, not to mention deteriorating water quality, Europe is seeking ways to restore wetlands so that they can naturally provide water and sequester and store carbon. As part of the WET HORIZONS project, tools have been developed to help landowners and policymakers take appropriate measures to rewet these wetlands.
